Mohammad- Reza Shajarian is a big name in the Iranian culture and art scene. But Shajariyan is a multifaceted human being who did not limit himself to one branch of art and besides singing, he also played music, created the musical instruments, gardening, sports, literature, and so on.
One of the arts in which Shajariyan evolved in it is calligraphy. His interest in calligraphy made him complete the training of broken calligraphy with Ebrahim Bouzari in 1967 and Nastaliq calligraphy from Hassan and Hossein Mirkhani in 1970, and he was able to obtain an excellent degree in calligraphy at the same year.
Shajarian had significant improvements in calligraphy to the point that a sample of his work can be seen in the Seyyed Hossein Mirkhani's Library.
Although Shajariyan did less calligraphy in the following years, he established his company 'Del Navaz' to release his music albums therefore Shajariyan wrote and release his calligraphy works on a number of these albums. Gradually, he handed over the calligraphy of his albums to professors such as Gholam Hossein Amirkhani, Abass Akhavein, Yadollah Kaboli Khansari, etc. For several years, Shajarian participated in calligraphy celebrations and conferences and exhibited works on various occasions.
There are works by him in the book "Collection of contemporary Iranian calligraphers" and in 2010 his works were exhibited in an exhibition at Vahdat Hall along with a group of contemporary calligraphers.
