Artworks on the theme of the fight against global arrogance have been selected for the exhibitions underway in Mehran, Chazzabeh and Shalamcheh, the director of the Art Bureau’s Visual Arts Office, Masud Shojaei-Tabatabai, announced on Thursday.
A selection of 160 cartoons, paintings, posters and illustrations are on view at the exhibitions.
“A group of artists, including Kazem Chalipa, Alireza Purakbari, Hossein Yuzbashi and Hamid Sharifi Ale-Hashem, is in the border cities to create their works. They will later display them in an exhibit due to be held in the Iraqi city of Najaf,” he explained.
The program has been organized in collaboration with the Art and Cultural Organization of the Tehran Municipality.
The religious ritual of Arbaeen is performed to observe the end of the 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions on Ashura. Arbaeen falls on October 30 this year.
Pilgrims from various Iranian cities flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala during Arbaeen to visit the shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and his brother Hazrat Abbas (AS).
