The exhibition will show 40 calligraphies by renowned 19th century master calligrapher of nastaliq style Mohammad Hussein Shirazi. He is known as ‘Kateb-ol-Sultan’ (calligrapher of the king) and was famous for his command of various variations in nastaliq script, a cursive style in Persian calligraphy with long horizontal strokes and short verticals.
“Recently we found some old calligraphy masterpieces that caught us by surprise. Such marvelous geometries and proportions can be called nothing but art,” director of the newly founded Dall Gallery told Honaronline.
