The 93-year-old doyenne of Iranian art, Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, has a new museum dedicated to her oeuvre in Tehran. The Monir Museum, which opened Friday in Tehran University Negarestan, a 19th-century former palace and gardens, is the first institution in Iran devoted to a single female artist. Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Seyyed Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini, Majid Mollanorouzi, Mohammad Beheshti, Majid Sarsangi, Farbod Farahi and a number of A-list artists attended the opening ceremony.
