A production of Titowak Theater Group, the play is loosely based on story of Dante’s epic journey through hell, Mehr News Agency reported. The play, written and directed by Ebrahim Poshtkoohi, was performed in June at the Azerbaijan State Musical Theater. The cast includes Farzin Mohades, Majid Keshavarz and Behnam Panizeh. In the Divine Comedy, the classical Italian poet Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) has written one of the most famous poems of the world, which is his depiction of hell, purgatory and heaven.
Since its establishment in 1997, Titowak Theater Group has been trying to incorporate local traditions and rituals in theatrical performances hoping to help preserve cultural heritage. It has so far combined traditions with known and famous classical works including “Macbeth” and “Like Water for Chocolate”.
