The play “Exit the King” is about facing one’s own disintegration. It is directed by Mohammad Reza Sa’adati and the cast includes Mohammad Pourhassan, Fatima Sarlak, Armin Rastgou, Bahar Zolqadri and Tara Younes-Tabar, Honaronline reported.
According to Goodreads.com, the play, first written in 1962, is the story of Berenger, an old king, who is informed that he is dying and his kingdom is crumbling on his watch.
He has lost the power to control his surroundings and is gradually losing his physical capabilities. Through much of the play, he is in denial of his death and refuses to give up power.
