Persian poet Forugh Farrokhzad, English playwright Sarah Kane and German choreographer Pina Bausch will be remembered in the play “Forugh of Sarah Pina”, he told the Persian service of MNA.
“This play is in praise of love and art, and also is based on works by Forugh Farrokhzad, Sarah Kane and Pina Bausch,” Hosseini said.
“I always have the greatest respect for these three artist ladies and my works have always come under their influence,” he added.
“These three ladies were similarly the legends in their own lifetimes and their works were distinctly feminine,” he noted.
A cast composed of Hosseini, Roja Jafarian, Sepideh Seifuri, Ruzbeh Mehr, Elaheh Muness and Azdeh Behmanesh will perform the play.
“Theatergoers will deal with aspiration and nostalgia in this play and I imagine they will like it,” stated Hosseini who directed on “West-East Divan” at Tehran’s City Theater complex in February 2016 based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s work of the same title.
“Forugh of Sarah Pina” will go on stage at the Nazerzadeh Kermani Hall of the Iranshahr Theater Complex during September.
Hosseini lamented on the current situation concerning Iran’s theatrical performances and said that perfect plays are rarely performed in most Iranian theaters.
