Cinema

-The Iranian short film, ‘A Winner,’ directed by Mehdi Mahaee, competed at the International Competition Section of the 23rd Mostra de Curtas Noia in Spain.

-Five Iranian movies screened during the Iranian Cultural Week in the Syrian capital of Damascus.“Henas”, directed by Hossein Darabi, opened the festival’s film program on last Sunday at the Damascus Opera House.

-The jury member of the OMID international student short film and photo festival was announced.

-Iranian photographer Amin Behjat's ''Funeral'' has won the FIAP Gold Medal at the 4th Aqua International Salon of Photography in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

-The fourth group photography exhibition titled ‘Freelance Photographers’ is underway in Sarv Art Gallery in Tehran.

-A photo exhibition honoring the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the Islamic Republic has been held in Iran.

- A work by Ashkan Sanei is featured in “Drawing Wow 3”, an exhibition entirely dedicated to drawing.

-Abdul-Moman Sharifi acts in the show Derafsh Kaviani from Tajikistan, which was on stage in Iran.

- Iranian maestro Ali (Alexander) Rahbari conducted the Mariinsky Orchestra performing his symphonic poem “Zarathustra Spitama” in a concert last Thursday at the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Culture and Literature

-The northwestern Iranian town of Khoy hosted the 8th edition of the International Conference on Rumi and Shams-i Tabrizi on Thursday.

-An Iranian cultural festival opened on Wednesday at Khan As’ad Pasha, a major historical site in the Old City of Damascus, Syria.

-Iranian Minister of Culture Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili on Thursday proposed the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization pursue a sisterhood plan between border cities which he believed could give a boost to cultural and social relations.

-“Touch” by British author Claire North has recently been published by Chatrang in Tehran.Originally published in 2015, the novel has been translated by Saeid Simorgh.

-Iran and Tajikistan have signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cultural relations.The MOU was inked by Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili, and Culture Minister of Tajikistan, Zulfiya Davlatzoda, in Tehran last Tuesday, just one day after opening a Tajik cultural festival at the Abbasabad Cultural Complex in the Iranian capital.
