Cinema
-Two-time Oscar-winning director Asghar Farhadi has been selected as a member of the jury for the 75th Cannes Film Festival.
-The Iranian short film “Don’t Breathe” directed by Milad Nasim-Sobhan achieved the Remi Bronze Award in Fantasy section of the 55th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival.
-The press conference for the unveiling of the poster of the twelfth awards of the Iranian Short Film Academy "ISFA" and the announcement of the nominees for the different sections of this event was held in the presence of Marjan Ashrafizadeh.
-Iranian filmmaker Firuzeh Khosrovani’s “Radiograph of a Family” has won the grand jury prize in the documentary competition of the 48th Seattle International Film Festival.
-The 12th edition of the Tehran International Animation Festival will be held in person from May 29 to June 2, due to the decrease of coronavirus cases in the country, said the director of the event.
-Iranian director Mohammad Vahdani’s “Last Lullaby in Tehran” received nominations in nine categories, including best film and best director, at the 12th edition of the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) Awards, the organizers announced on Tuesday.
-The cinematheque of the Iranian Artists Forum reviewed contemporary Japanese cinema in a special program.
-Iranian film critic, researcher, filmmaker, actor, author, translator and university lecturer, Hamed Soleimanzadeh, was selected to judge the films at the 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in Germany.
- The sale of the movie “Mahdi Situation” directed by Hadi Hejazifar and produced by Habib Valinejad in the popular screens of “Ammar” exceeded one billion Tomans.
-The Iranian short film ‘Cylinder’ received two awards at the 14th edition of the Short To The Point (STTP) – International Short Film Festival in Romania.Amir Pazirofteh won the Best Director Award and Babak Nouri won the Best Actor Award at the festival
Fashion
-The traditional clothing event of the Islamic world started in Milad Tower with the help of group-work for organizing the country's fashion and clothing.
Visual Arts
-Twelve Iranian Quran activists were honored on Thursday during the closing ceremony of the 29th edition of the International Holy Quran Exhibition in Tehran.
-Works by Iranian artist Hadi Fallahpisheh were on view in an exhibition at the Power Station in Dallas.
-Paintings by Palestinian artists are on display at an exhibition titled, ‘Sang-e Saboor’ (literally means ‘patient stone’ and metaphorically means ‘sympathetic ear’) at the Palestin Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran.
--Last week, Tehran galleries hosted14 new exhibitions in various fields of visual arts.
Theater
-"Iran’s boutique of theatre " started in the heart of Omid Hospital with the play "The Unfinished Yard of Vernosfadrani House" written and directed by Reza Saeedi.
-The play reading Mouse of Theater City written by Mehdi Maleki and directed by Alireza Ghorbanzadeh went to the Shahrzad Theater Complex.
-The show "Silent Scream" written by Mohammad Reza Ataeifar, directed by Mohammad Hadi Ataei and starring Peyman Mohseni, Mohsen Salari, Mohammad Hadi Ataei, Sara Zakariannejad is on stage every day.
-The radio program Labyrinth of story broadcasted a work by Arthur Miller.
-The play “Beyond The Mirror” directed by Ali Sarabi and produced by Noureddin Haidari Maher and Mohammad Qods, is performed in the Vahdat Hall.
Music
-The second edition of the National Regional Music Festival is planned to be held in the southern province of Fars from May 15 to 20.
Culture and Literature
-Twenty audio books from the "Ava Book" collection for children have been published.
-Tehran-based publisher Chatrang has published a Persian translation of Japanese writer Keigo Higashino’s novel “A Midsummer’s Equation”. Saeideh Qasemian is the translator of the book first was published in 2011.
-Authored by Iranian scholar Zahra Rashidbeigi, “Iran: La Culla di una Pacifica Coesistenza Religiosa” (“Iran: The Cradle of Peaceful Religious Co-existence: Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians”) was originally published in 2015. Translated by Giorgia Durigon, the book has been published by Il Cerchio in Rimini.
-As of April 29, registration platform has been open to digital publishers interested in participating in the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).
-Hossein Aliakbari Harehdasht and Leyla Hajjari, professors at Persian Gulf University (PGU), held a weeklong course in University of Córdoba on poetry of the 12th century poet Omar Khayyam, Director of PGU International Affairs and Overseas Students said.
-A scientific and academic gathering was held at the National University of Tajikistan to celebrate Saadi Day with the participation of the Iranian envoy, scientists, and academics of Tajikistan.
-“Prose Fiction: An Introduction to the Semiotics of Narrative” by Catalan writer Ignasi Ribó has been published in Persian.Siahrud is the publisher of the book translated by Vafa Miah.
-The 23rd edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair, which was supposed to be held from May 11 to 21, has been postponed.
Architecture
-The Museum of Architecture and Creativity, in collaboration with the Now Gallery of Isfahan and the Finnish Embassy in Iran, held an exhibition entitled "Alvar Alto Landscape Architecture".
-The online meeting of "The relationship between urban management and management of Covid 19 in the metropolis of Tehran" was held.
-The 9th Issue of alley magazine, May 1400, with a special look at ‘Empowerment: On empowering local communities’ was published.
