In this article, we take a look at the activities that took place last week in different art fields such as theater, architecture, cinema, culture and literature, visual arts, fashion, and music.
Cinema
-The 40th edition of the Fajr Film Festival, Iran’s most important film event, announced its lineup for the official competition. Twenty-two films, most made by the new generation of Iranian filmmakers, will compete in the festival. The festival will be held from February 1 to February 11.
-Iranian drama “A Hero” has been shortlisted in the international feature film category as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday announced the shortlists in 10 categories for the 94th Oscars.
-The head of Farabi Cinema Foundation voiced his readiness to participate in the European Film Market (EFM) of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.The market will host nine Iranian organizations, institutions and companies under the framework of “Iranian Cinema Umbrella”.
-Iranian short film 'Naji' directed by Hosein Torkjoosh, won three awards at the Jorjezian film festival in the US.
-Iranian filmmaker and film distributor Ali-Mohammad Eqbaldar was selected to judge the films at the second edition of the Jammu Film Festival in India from March 19-20.
-Iranian films “Israfil”, “Titi”, “Sultan” and “Standing in the Dust” were screened at the 17th International Snow Film Festival in Erzurum, Turkey.
Fashion
-The officials of the five departments in the working group for organizing the country's fashion and clothing were introduced in separate rulings.
-Simultaneously with the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Qasem Soleimani, the "Ring of the Hearts" contest will be held by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Kerman Province. Innovation in the method of making the ring, the use of raw materials (natural stone and metal) and the use of Iranian Islamic designs or motifs are the main characteristics of the selected works. The final results will be announced on the 30 of December.
Visual Arts
-The International Exhibition of the "24 Hours" project hosted the audience by displaying works by photographers from the 3rd of January in the Idea Gallery. The exhibition includes 60 works by 60 photographers from 16 countries: Iran, Germany, USA, India, Peru, Russia, Ireland, Mexico, Congo, China, Poland, Hong Kong, Canada, Colombia, Finland and Indonesia. The jury of this project was selected from different countries.
-Last week, Tehran galleries hosted 28 new exhibitions in various fields of visual arts.
-Initiated in 2018, Bon-gah Art Book Fair is an annual event of artists’ publication.4th edition of BABF was held in Ava Centre from the 7th to the 10th of December. in addition to hosting artists, art publishers, galleries, designers, cultural product suppliers, and printing and graphic studios, also held daily meetings.
-Yadollah Kaboli's birthday celebration was held on Thursday, January 30, at the Shahnaz Hall of the House of Iranian Artists.
-“Architecture of Words and Words” is a collection of brilliant works by Master Mohammad Ehsaei, which was republished for the first time and exhibited in a special gallery. This exhibition will host the audience until mid January 2022.
-The exhibitions of the 16th anniversary of Morteza Momayez were extended until January 10th. Exhibition of selected works by Behzad Hatam from 1350 until today and the exhibition of posters and environmental projects of R2 Design Atelier from Portugal in the galleries of Master Momayez, Master Mirmiran, Autumn and Winter of the House of Iranian Artists, continues until January 11th.
-An exhibition opened on Monday in Tehran showcasing a collection of photos reflecting on aspects of General Qassem Soleimani’s national popularity.
-The second period of the "Mirror holder of the periods" award started on the 24 of December, coinciding with the birthday of Mohammad Ibrahim Bastani Parizi, with the unveiling of the poster of this event in Bagh Negarestan. This program will continue until January, in Khajavi Kermani's birthday, and the winners of this event will be honored in a ceremony that will be held on mid of January at Vahdat Hall.

Theater
-The media meeting of the third national General Soleimani Theater Festival was held on the evening of December 27 in the City Theater of Tehran. This period of the festival is held in three sections: street theater, playwriting and radio theater. 135 works have been sent to the street theater section, 40 works to the radio theater section and 71 works to the playwriting section of this event. The opening of the third Soleimani Theater Festival will be held on January 8 in Kerman province.
-In the first days of winter, 28 works began to be performed in the theaters of the capital.
Music
-The IRIB Symphonic Orchestra performed on Wednesday evening in memory of Lieutenant-General Qassem Soleimani at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.Vocalists Alireza Eftekhari, Salar Aqili and Bahram Paiz, and Lebanese singer Ali Al-Attar accompanied the orchestra during the concert.
-With the teaching of “Mahyar Tarihi”, the Khanyagar collection published the Santour educational collection with the teaching of “Mahyar Tarihi”, the composer and musician of Santour. This set consists of five levels.
-An Iranian orchestra performed Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall to commemorate the artists who have succumbed to COVID-19 in the country. Bardia Kiaras conducted the orchestra, which have Arsalan Kamkar as the concertmaster. The Hasmik Karapetyan Choir, Tehran Choir and Tonal Choir also accompanyed the orchestra in the concert.
Culture and Literature
-Iran’s prominent poet Rudaki, who is known as the father of Persian poetry, was commemorated during a ceremony held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on December 25.
-Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province, has been named Iran’s 2022 Book Capital on Monday.The jury picked the city in three stages from among 192 submissions. In addition, Bam, Evaz, Najafabad and Semnan were selected as Iran’s Innovative Cities of Book Reading.
-Stories from ancient Persian literature are narrated by Bahareh Jahandoust, an Iranian narrator and storyteller, with the solo Zurkhaneh percussion by Murshid Ali Nari in Farsi and English at the Iran booth at the Expo. This year's motto of the expo is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future".
Iran with the slogan "Iran; Ancient and Stable Civilization: The Diversity of Ethnicities and the Host of Nations ”is present in this global event.
-Winners of the First Asghar AbdollahoLiterary Awards were announced on Tuesday.
-Iranian children Raha Taheri and Nura Mohkamkar have won awards at the World Storytelling Championship in Chennai, India.
Architecture
The seminar "Challenges of Transition from Comprehensive Urban Plans to Strategic and Operational Plans in Iran" was held on the occasion of Research Week. This research meeting was organized by the Geography Department of the House of Humanities Thinkers, the Faculty of Geographical Sciences and the Scientific Society of Human Geography of Kharazmi University.
