Hanachi hailed the new facilities amid the coronavirus outbreak in the Iranian capital city.
“Given the coronavirus restrictions in the city, online services are of great importance, and the Book Garden is now providing the service to citizens for free,” said Hanachi.
The mayor also described the new open-air venue as “a perfect space for the recreation and amusement of Tehran people, while observing COVID protocols.”
Meanwhile, Jalal Farahani, the head of the complex, said, “The Book Garden was founded in 2017 with seven main sections, and the figure has now reached 30. A theater and music hall is the newest facility added to the complex, which includes a record studio, accommodating 70 musicians, as well as theater black box with the capacity of 180 spectators. The main theater hall has a 150m2 stage and accommodates 280 people as audience.”
Jalali added, “The online bookstore had been launched for several months [before the official opening], and the viewers can purchase the books and other products on shop.bagheketab.com.”
