The 275-page book has been translated into English by Persian literature graduate Constance Bobroff. The original book was published in 2013 by Ofoq Publications and went into three editions in Iran.
The English rendering has been made available through Kindle Direct Publishing, Amazon’s eBook publishing unit launched in November 2007, concurrently with the first Amazon Kindle device (a series of e-readers designed and marketed by Amazon) to be used by authors and publishers so as to independently publish their books directly to Kindle and Kindle Apps worldwide.
Hassanzadeh’s book is about a 16-year-old girl, Dorna, resident of Abadan, a city in southwestern Iran, who comes upon an old notebook. In it, she reads the story of how the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war separated a man called Zal from his boyhood crush after the girl’s family moved to another city. She decides to post the story in installments on her blog.
