Women’s participation in the 12th Tehran International Animation Festival (TIAF) has increased compared to the previous years’ editions, said a member of the selection committee of the event.
Speaking about the selection priorities, Shiva Momtahen added that since each member had a different look toward the works, the committee had a comprehensive view for its selection.
This year, the festival will host women filmmakers who have received global awards, she said.
Speaking about the standards of the submitted works, the animator said, all the works enjoy high standards and the majority of the works have received international awards.
After nearly three years of coronavirus and quarantine days, holding this festival and gathering animation artists is highly welcomed, Momtahen noted.
The 12th edition of the festival will be held in person from May 29 to June 2, due to the decrease of coronavirus cases in the country, said the director of the event.
Mohammadreza Karimi-Saremi added that the festival was supposed to be held from March 6 to 10. However, the coronavirus surge postponed it to a later time.
The event will be held at the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IDCYA).
Over 1,000 movies, from 85 countries, will be screened at the festival. The animations are from Japan, China, France, Austria, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Brazil and dozens of other countries.
About 460 Iranian animations will be competing in the national section of the festival.
