The unveiling ceremony of the book will be attended by the Iranian composer Nader Mashayekhi and a group of theater and cinema figures on Sunday.
This program is organized by the Mashayekhi Music School, Murghabi Publications, in cooperation with the Cinema Museum of Iran.
The late Jamshid Mashayekhi was one of the top five actors of Iranian cinema, who starred in such acclaimed movies as ‘Kamal-ol-molk,’ ‘The Cow,’ and ‘Qeisar’.
Mashayekhi was once called by veteran actor Parviz Parastuei as one of the top five actors of Iranian cinema, along with Mohammad Ali Keshavarz, Ali Nasirian, Davud Rashidi and Ezzatollah Entezami.
Born in 1934, Mashayekhi began his career as a theater actor. He had an exemplary career, acting in about 100 films and over 50 TV series, before and after the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
He starred in the title role in Ali Hatami’s ‘Kamal-ol-Molk,’ which won him the Cyrstal Simorgh for best actor in 1984 at the Fajr Film Festival, which was established to celebrate the Islamic Revolution.
In 1985, director Rasul Sadr-Ameli’s drama, “Chrysanthemum,” brought him one more Cyrstal Simorgh at the festival.
In 2007, he was honored as an eternal figure of Iranian cinema during the Sixth Eternal Figures Gathering.
The veteran actor died on April 2, 2019, at the age of 85, after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his daughter, Naghmeh, and his sons, Sam and Nader, who is a world-renowned musician.
