Iranian-Australian filmmaker Granaz Moussavi’s second feature was shot in Afghanistan, and tells the story of a nine-year-old boy named Hewad (Arafat Faiz) who hustles on the streets of Kabul for survival, but dreams of being a movie star. When he is befriended by an Australian photojournalist, Hewad suspects his luck might be starting to change.
The Australian-Afghanistan co-production is written by Moussavi and produced by Parvin Productions in association with Sterga Productions.
The film was recently nominated for best youth feature at the 2021 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. Australia last submitted in 2020, with Rodd Rathjen’s Buoyancy.
