Farhadi’s film will compete at the main competition program of the festival along with ‘The Automat,’ directed by Lisa Hurwitz, ‘Becoming Cousteau,’ directed by Liz Garbus, and ‘The Hand of God,’ directed by Paolo Sorrentino among others, IRNA reported.
TFF is screening more than 80 feature films, short films and revival programs representing 29 countries, along with special artist tributes, conversations, panels, student programs and festivities.
The festival, presented by the National Film Preserve, will run through September 6 in Telluride, Colorado, the US.
According to Vanity Fair, following an awards qualifying run in November, the film will hit select theaters in the US on January 7, 2022 before streaming on Prime Video starting January 21. In its first international debut, ‘A Hero’ won the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix award, jointly with ‘Compartment No. 6,’ Juho Kuosmanen’s follow-up to his debut, ‘The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki’.
Farhadi’s latest film has also recently been invited to the Toronto Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Melbourne Film Festival in Australia, New Horizons Film Festival in Poland, and Miami Gems section of the 39th edition of the Miami Film Festival in Florida, the US, IRNA reported.
‘A Hero’ is the story of Rahim who is in prison because of a debt he was unable to pay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don’t go as planned, IMDB wrote.
Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafai and Sarina Farhadi starred in the drama.
Farhadi produced the film together with Alexandre Mallet-Guy of Memento Films International.
Farhadi has received two Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film for his films ‘A Separation’ (2011) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016), making him one of the few directors worldwide who have won the category twice. He also received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Screenplay for his film ‘The Salesman’.
