According to Variety, “the first of the big fall festivals to kick off awards season is just weeks away. We’re still operating on multiple sight-unseen films and are going by the rumor mill on what could or could not be a contender. Lots of early positive buzz for Netflix’s ‘Tick, Tick…Boom!’ from first-time director Lin-Manuel Miranda and Sony Pictures Classics’ ‘Parallel Mothers’ from Oscar-winner Pedro Almodóvar.”
Overall, this could be a very top-heavy year with some obvious films standing out, while others, will simply fill slots. Let’s wait to see how it all unfolds.
‘Don't Look Up,’ directed by Adam McKay, ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth,’ directed by Joel Coen, ‘Nightmare Alley,’ directed by Guillermo del Toro, and ‘A Journal for Jordan,’ directed by Denzel Washington are also among the listed films.
‘A Hero’ won Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix award jointly with ‘Compartment No. 6,’ Juho Kuosmanen’s follow-up to his debut, ‘The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki’.
‘A Hero’ is the story of Rahim who is in prison because of a debt he was unable to repay. During a two-day leave, he tries to convince his creditor to withdraw his complaint against the payment of part of the sum. But things don't go as planned, IMDB wrote.
Actors such as Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Fereshteh Sadr-Orafai and Sarina Farhadi starred in the drama.
Farhadi produced the film together with Alexandre Mallet-Guy of Memento Films International.
