The 19th edition of Tbilisi International Film Festival kicked off Monday night in the Georgian capital, and will go through December 8.
Iranian screenwriter and director Nima Javidi is joining four other juries from Russia, Japan, France and the host country to judge the participating films in the international competition section.
Javidi, born in 1980, started filmmaking with a short film named 'Marathon champion' (2000) when he was 18. His first feature 'Melbourne' (2014) which was the opening film in critics' week in Venice film festival (2014) has attended more than 60 festivals around the world. He received 14 international awards for his first film namely, Best Film in Cairo Film Festival (2014), Best Script in Stockholm Film Festival (2014), Best Script in Asia Pacific Awards (2014), Best Director, Best script and Best young jury award in Gijon Film Festival (2014), etc. Moreover, he is a member of Asia Pacific Academy Awards and was a member of jury in 54th Gijon Film Festival (2016).
He is working on post production of his second feature film ‘The Warden' (2018), at the moment.
