‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri, ‘Doostet Daram’ (‘I Love You’) by Babak Habibifar, and ‘Manicure’ by Arman Fayyaz have made it into the main competition section of the 20th International Short Film Show of the Bay of Pasaia (IKUSKA 2018) in Spain.
‘Retouch’ gives a startling look into the the life of a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes while she is gripped with uncertainty as to what the best course of action is to take.
With upcoming participation at 15 international festivals in October and November, ‘Retouch’ has so far made it into the screening program of 158 film festivals across the world, and won dozens of top awards.
‘Manicure’ is the story of a man who struggles to deal with the aftermath of the unexpected death of his wife under the eyes of the local villagers.
‘I Love You’ is a 12-minute short film about a lonely man who hears strange noises and goes to investigate where they are coming from.
IKUSKA, according to the festival’s website, has an international short film competition in 5 screenings, and other parallel non-competition sessions related to the development of Basque and language coexistence (MINTZAGUN projection in collaboration with Oarsoaldea euskaltegis), Gender Equality (BEKOZ BEKO award in collaboration with the Association against gender violence Bekoz Beko), the promotion of culture in Pasaia and its surroundings, etc.
The 20th edition of the festival will be held on November 9 – 18, 2018, in Gipuzkoa, Spain.
