Co-directed by Azadeh Musavi and Kurosh Atai “Finding Farideh” received nominations in best documentary, best cinematographer, best music and several categories.
The film is about a Netherland-based Iranian woman who was adopted by a Dutch couple forty years ago, and returns to Iran to search for her family.
“Women with Gunpowder Earrings” directed by Reza Farahmand is about Nur, a female journalist who covers stories about Syrian and Iraqi women and children in the war against the ISIS terrorists.
The film received nominations in best documentary, best cinematographer, best sound, best editing and several other sections.
“Iran’s Lady Qods” by Mostafa Razzaq-Karimi, which is about Khadijeh Saqafi, wife of Imam Khomeini, the founder of Islamic Republic, received five nominations, including best documentary and best editing.
Other nominations for the best documentary are “Ali Aqa” by Kamran Heidari and “Sarcheshmeh Assassination” by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian.
The Cinema Verite festival, which has been organized in Tehran by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center, will come to an end on Sunday.
